BACK IN CALIFORNIA!                                                                                                                 February 6th, 2007

So here's the 411 on the injury.....My hamstring had been sore for a couple of weeks now, started in the middle of the Open, but I was able to keep it under control. Then in the second game of my last match I landed on my left leg after a serve and felt a much sharper pain than I had felt before and it didn't get any better after a couple of games. It's the worst feeling having to retire in a match! I can't even tell you! I'll have to get treatment everyday now and hopefully be able to hit some balls again tomorrow.

But the only good news of that day was that I was able to get on a flight 3 hours later and get home 9 hours after that. A couple hours after I landed I went to a family's friends 10 year-olds basketball game, went to Santa Monica with some friends and had dinner in Venice...it's amazing just how 12 hours before that I was in a completely different world! I guess when you travel so much, you get to appreciate the home life so much more.
And yesterday I went furniture shopping for my house........

It's been a whole year since I got it and I'm still shopping for it! I guess in some casinos they have this voucher laying around that
basically tells you gambling can be a bad addiction and you can self-ban yourself by allowing them to fine you if you ever go there again.....it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard but it's true. So anyways after spending an astronomical amount of money at this one store, I was looking around for one of those vouchers. Unfortunately they didn't have them. Is it bad that you can buy a towel at Pottery Barn for $30, but of course I end up buying one from Missoni that's $130? Ya I would say so.

Just to give you guys an example of how clueless I am sometimes......I was having breakfast in Tokyo one morning and this guy came over to me and said congratulations. I was like thanks, then once he left I turned to Mike and asked what he was congratulating me on.......Mike said 'last time I checked becoming number one is pretty good'.

I had some coffee with Mischa Barton one night while I was in Tokyo......she was promoting her show there. I had met her in N.Y last year and we coincidently were in Tokyo at the same time. I guess it's pretty cool getting to know people with different career's....especially someone around my age.

I'm almost done reading this book called 'A Year In Provence' by Peter Mayle. The one thing I've learned is that the stomach is by far the most influential organ in France. It's actually a pretty neat book.

Gotta Go Jack!!!
