POSTCARD FROM WIMBLEDON                                                                                                         June 24 , 2007

Just a quick update before I start in a day.....let's just say I'm so glad to be back in London. Apart from the fact that a pound is twice the US dollar, all is great!( Mike exchanged a $100 bill when we first arrived in England, only to receive 47 pounds in return.....he told the lady she had made a mistake...only to find himself looking like a complete idiot)

Well Birmingham was one surreal experience this year. If it had rained for one more day, I was thinking about joining the local book club, because I had read more books that week than I did this whole year. The sun started shining mid-way through Enrique's Journey by Sonia Nazario ( poor Enrique is still on a train from Texas to Mexico because I haven't picked it up since).

Just a shout out to the weather people here in England. Their daily weather predictions are quite amusing.....showers with a few sun spells in between, gust winds with a chance of a thunderstorm through the evening. So what they're saying is that it's going to be rainy, sunny, windy, and possibly dangerous....ALL in ONE day. They've pretty much covered all the possibilities.....must be nice to know that you're never wrong!

Living in a house is a nice change up from the usual hotel rooms. Like today at 7am, these two little birds by my window decided to have a singing contest, so I had to kick them out. Then walking out of the house I stumbled on 3 milk bottles that happened to miraculously appear in front of the door. And I don't miss a day without having a nice cup of English tea in front of the garden.
Oh and a few practices here and there.

That's all I got for you right now....short and sweet.
Wish me luck!!

Maria
