MY TRIP TO COSTA RICA                                                                                                      November 27th, 2006

I just got back from Costa Rica, and it was amazing! There are not too many times in a year when I can wake up and have no sense of time. And not too many times you hear growling monkeys in the middle of the night. As my friend said, it's either the sound of monkeys or dying birds. Our villa was in, what seemed like, a jungle so I am going to assume it is monkeys.
The resort was absolutely beautiful, and we had perfect weather for tanning. I can finally say that I finished filming the sequel to 'ghost'! I don't think I have ever looked so pale, as I did after Madrid.
The people here were so nice, and you could really tell they appreciated everyone that came to their country.

My typical day in Costa Rica? Wake up, open the blinds and the windows, and go back to bed. Wake up again, take a mini golf cart ride to breakfast, eat a breakfast burrito, decide if we want to lay out by the pool, or the beach (decisions, decisions!!!). Once we feel like a little skin color was obtained we head into the shade and have a little nap.
Then with lots of effort we head to lunch, and choose what type of fat we would like to contribute to our behinds. This is followed by the spa treatments, which we got every day, and ohh my that was incredible! Usually, like always, I get bored during a two hour treatment because I no longer need to relax because that's all I have been doing for the last 6 hours!! Sometimes I think to myself 'I don't need those cucumbers on my eyes, my eyes are not that tired!'
But here was a little different because the treatments were really something. Actually I think after my career is over I can write about all the different spa's around the world and their best treatments. Anyways the spa was followed by a little walk and some coffee.
After recovering in our rooms, we all head to dinner and stuff ourselves once again! And just in case any players are reading this (fat chance) I did go to the gym a few times. You never realize how nice it is going to the gym without having someone telling what to do!! But I guess you don't get a cold towel every 20 minutes from your trainer like you did here either.

I also went swinging through the jungle. I'm very adventurous so I love anything to do with speed like cars or flying through the air. At one point we were 400 meters in the air, going 40 mph, on a skinny little rope. Amazing! Another day, we took some LTV's, dirt road cars, and headed into the village to look at some of the amazing land around the resort. We also jet-skied, which is one of my favorite things to do.

I don't usually watch a lot of TV, and my first attempt on vacation ended quite quickly. After going through many useless channels, looking at the cold weather back in NY, I checked out ESPN. The first thing on that screen said 'live coverage of the Australian Open beginning......OFF!!! That was I started going to the gym.

I went shopping the other day and a lady came up to me and started a conversation with me. Something like this..... "Hello, my name is so and so. I have been meaning to write you for the last three months, and now that I have met you here, I can just tell you. I am a professional nutritionist and diet person. Do you work with someone like that? Well I think it will really help your career. There are times when your body looks really fit, and there are other times when you look a little puffy. I can fit you in the next couple of weeks. You know a lot of my clients are out of town because of holidays so you really caught me at a good time. Well anyways let me know, because you are going to notice a huge change......." A little puffy??? WOW. That took a lot of guts.

I am starting training again, which means that it's back to reality. I will keep you updated on how that's going!

Toodles!    Maria
